Is men’s skin care problematic today?

Tags: ,

So, what do you say, do you think men face problems in skin care products? I would say “yes”. As with any market that proves itself profitable, most companies have recognized this trend, and are quick to throw out their new product to quickly cash-in on this new trend. Are they throwing out their products too fast? I think allot of them are. Over the past several years there has definitely been a sizeable increase in the sales of men’s skin care products. Now, men have about the same opportunity to waste their money on unnecessary and problematic skin care products as women do.

Think about this, As a man, while shaving, so you experience razor burn? Do you think its the way that you shave that’s giving you razor burn? Honestly, you do what you con to save your face from wounds.

Take it from me, as a man, I shave a lot. I use the same products that my dad used. I experienced razor burn. I thought it was the way I did it. To figure out what was really going on, I had to find out what razor burn really is. Razor burn is a series of ingrown hairs. Most shaving creams contain irritating ingredients such as alcohol, menthol mint, and camphor, as well as high levels of potassium or sodium hydroxide. These skin irritants make the hair follicle and skin swell, forcing the hair up and away from the skin, supposedly allowing for a closer shave. Unfortunately, the irritation and resulting swelling cause some of the hair to be hidden by the swollen follicle and skin. Note that sodium hydroxide is used in many skin care products at very low levelsthe lesser amount in the ingredient list on the label to adjust the ph value. In these low quantities it is not irritating to skin. Additionally the swollen skin makes it harder for the stubble to find its way back out. If hair begins to grow and it almost immediately does before the swelling is reduced, the likelihood of ingrown hairs are increased.

When it comes to shaving, what can men do to take care of the skin on their face? Well, to start with, all men need a gentle, water soluble cleanser, a gentle shave product, either foam, cream, or gel, followed by a gentle, non-irritating aftershave or shaving lotion which is a masculine name for a gentle toner an ideal aftershave product for men would be an aspirin based topical product that uses an additional potent inti-irritants. Aspirin is a very effective anti-inflammatory agent for irritated skin and is able to alleviate the redness and razor burnbumps.

when it comes to skin care, us guys aren’t any different from women. our skin is the same. So just use your girlfriend’s, or your mom’s, or your sister’s. it will work the same way it works for her.

So that’s it. And as always, I hope you found this article both informative and entertaining. And may GOD bless you always, and in always.

If you have sensitive skin, you may need to take extra measures to care for and protect your skin. Sensitive skin can make skin care difficult as many products that are meant for cleansing or beautifying the skin can cause irritation. Therefore, you must be very careful what products you choose for skin care and health. You could end up with a real problem instead of your desired beautiful, healthy skin.

Symptoms of Sensitive Skin

Though sensitive skin in itself is not a medical condition, it can be a sign of underlying conditions that cause various symptoms such as rosacea, eczema, psoriasis, acne, or allergies. Many people attribute the symptoms to merely “sensitivity” and never realize the actual problem. With any persistent condition, you should seek medical advice from a dermatologist to find out what type of skin care and health measures to take.

Some symptoms that can occur with sensitive skin include rashes and irritation with the use of certain products, tightening of the skin, tingling, skin reactions to emotional stress, breakouts after shaving, redness, drying, hives, excessive blushing, or irritation after short-term or long-term exposure to the sun.

Causes of Sensitive Skin

There are many causes of sensitive skin, and these can vary from one person to the next. Men and women alike suffer from sensitive skin. Some skin conditions are genetic. If you blush easily or have itchy, dry skin, or if you are prone to get freckles or sunburn easily when exposed to the sun for a just a short time, your condition may be hereditary. Some allergic reactions are also genetic.

Sometimes, the foods you eat can cause you to have sensitive skin or an allergic reaction. Caffeine, spices, and some hot liquids may cause a skin reaction. Your skin may also be sensitive to certain cosmetics or skin care and health products. Other causes can be medication, stress, or even environmental factors such as windy or very cold weather.

Treatment for Sensitive Skin

Though treatments may vary for sensitive skin, the best treatment is to avoid products or activities that usually cause a reaction. If you know certain skin care products cause your skin to break out in a rash, avoid using those products. If you know certain foods cause a reaction, avoid those foods. If you’re not sure what’s causing the reaction, keep a diary of activities, foods, and products used and make a note each time a reaction occurs.

Pamper your skin daily with natural aloe-based gels and creams so the skin can heal itself. Aloe vera is known for its healing and rejuvenating properties. It helps the skin produce new skin cells to replace old, dead cells. Some products, such as the Hawaiian aloe-based product called AhVahleen, combine aloe with other natural ingredients to enhance the aloe’s health properties. Aloe also helps soothe burns and cuts, relieve sunburn, and provide relief for a number of skin conditions including psoriasis. Aloe products may also protect your skin from damaging sun rays if you spend a lot of time outdoors.

Also, use other natural products for skin care and health purposes such as natural foundational makeup and powders, natural eye makeup, natural cleansers, and other natural beauty products including shampoo, body wash, and shaving cream.

As you try new products, make a note of any skin conditions that continue and those that subside. You’ll soon find a combination that enables you to live a normal life, even with sensitive skin. Tips on Skin Care During Pregnancy

Tags:

Most women expect to have beautiful and glowing skin when they become pregnant. Unfortunately, this is not always the case. Since the glow often attributed to pregnancy is due to the hormonal changes a woman’s body undergoes, different reactions are to be expected. Some women may break out during the whole term of their pregnancies while others may have acne only during the first trimester. Some women also experience skin dryness and only a select few start and end their pregnancies all aglow. If you are pregnant and want to maintain great skin throughout your term, it is essential that you have a great skin care routine. The following tips can help you achieve that proverbial pregnant glow

1. Update your skin care products.

Your skin has different needs compared to your skin before the pregnancy. Since hormonal changes can cause your skin to become oilier or drier, you may need to adjust and change the products you use. Some skin care products may also contain ingredients that are not suitable for pregnant women. Consult your doctor and dermatologist for skin care products that are safe for pregnant women.

2. Switch to moisturizing body washes.

Aside from your facial skin, the skin on your body also needs extra care during the pregnancy. The stress and trauma caused by stretching due to your increasing bulk can make your skin dry and itch. Using soaps can strip your skin off its natural oils and reduce its suppleness. Switch to moisturizing body washes to restore moisture on your skin and prevent itching and dryness.

3. Load up on sun protection.

Your skin’s sensitivity will increase during pregnancy. This means that it can get irritated and damaged easier when exposed to the sun. Avoid skin discolorations, dryness, and irritations by applying sunscreen as part of your daily skin care routine.

4. Pamper your bump.

The skin on your abdominal area experiences continuous stretching throughout the whole term of your pregnancy. This stretching can result to unsightly stretch marks long after you have given birth. Prevent stretch marks by regularly massaging your tummy with a moisturizing pregnancy gel or cream.

5. Pay attention to your breasts.

Your tummy is not the only thing that enlarges during pregnancy. Your breasts also increase in size to prepare for lactation. The skin on your breasts and nipples will be particularly sensitive which can lead to itching and dryness. Applying nipple creams on your breasts can reduce the dryness while wearing cotton maternity bras can help reduce the itching.

6. Go easy on the makeup.

Less is more should be your motto when using makeup during your pregnancy. A foundation stick or concealer, loose powder, and a multipurpose color stick are all you need to put on a polished face. Since skin during pregnancy is sensitive and prone to irritations, choosing moisturizing, hypoallergenic, and non-comedogenic cosmetics is a must.

Following these tips can help you achieve great skin during your pregnancy. Aside from these, eating a balanced diet, doing regular exercise, and getting sufficient rest are still the most basic things you can do for a good pregnancy and even better skin.

Total Skin Care What Your Skin Needs

Tags: ,

It is a fact that not everyone knows how to take good care of their skin. Knowing as well as maintaining the essential needs of the skin are very important in keeping the skin looking healthy and beautiful. Probably the best way to keep your skin healthy and young-looking is to provide it with a top skin care regimen or system. With a skin care regimen that can efficiently and sufficiently protect the function and structure of your skin, you are sure to have an even more beautiful and radiant skin.

Basic and advanced total skin care

It is said that the essential regimen for keeping the skin healthy and beautiful is generally divided into two categories the basic and the advanced skin care needs. The basic skin care needs cover the daily and minimal skin care system that a person with any type of skin can practice. Meanwhile, the advance needs are the methods that address specific skin problems or concerns. These advanced skin care methods are oftentimes associated with other forms of treatments.

Basic skin care

The basic skin care needs are regarded as the foundation of a daily skin care regimen. This type of skin care system covers four steps that include hydrating, toning, cleansing, and protecting.

1. Hydrate

Having the skin well-moisturized is very important as this keeps it from becoming dry. Hydrating also provides the skin with vital lipids, thus, maintaining moisture. Skin specialists often recommend the practice of nighttime hydration once every night.

2. Cleansing

This basic skin necessity keeps the skin free from pollutant, dirt, as well as excess oil. When a person fails to regularly cleanse his face, he or she is sure to experience inflamed and clogged pores and dull skin.

3. Tone

Toning is an essential basic skin requirement, for it prepares the skin from the benefits brought by the skin care products that are applied on the face. To get more efficient results, toning skin care products are applied twice a day right after cleansing. Apart from soothing and calming the skin, toning also balances skin pH and lessens pore appearance.

4. Protect

The skin also needs protection from the dangerous rays of the sun and other harmful environmental stressors. A morning dose of moisturizer with SPF can protect the skin from the sun’s UV ray that promotes discoloration and deteriorates the structural proteins of the skin.

Advance skin care

Advance skin care addresses specific concerns like acne, discoloration, free radical damage, and other critical skin care conditions. Below is the advance skin care regimen that one can follow as treatment to different types of skin complications

1. Treat

This type of advanced skin care comes in when the structures, components, and functions of the skin are compromised, leading to the early occurrence of premature aging.

2. Nourish

Nourishing is an essential form of advanced skin care, for it maintains youthfulness and protects skin health. One can nourish the skin using antioxidants that further prevents premature skin aging and damage.

3. Exfoliate

Exfoliating is very important as this replenishes the skin when it becomes rough and dull. This type of advanced skin care practice helps polish and resurface the skin to maintain a glowing complexion.

How to get clear beautiful looking skin Part 1

The following substances discussed below need to be removed from your diet
However, it takes the body time to adjust and only after a couple of months will you get a true and fair picture of whether removing these foods is having an impact. Also, be disciplined if you want a true picture of whether these foods help to cause or aggravate your skin condition. It is no good following the diet for a week or two then eating the odd slice of pizza. You will be cheating yourself and remember the aim is to try improve your condition for ‘your’ benefit.

Yeast

Yeast is the first of the potential food allergies I will explain. I will now list foods that we commonly eat which are high in yeast and that should be avoided

Bread Including Pastry, Pitta Bread and Naan Bread. There are yeast free alternatives to normal bread that are widely available, such as soda bread which I now eat and black rye bread.
Beer
Foods containing yeast extracts. Many foods that you would not expect to have yeast in them have yeast extracts in them. It is advisable to check whether a food has yeast on the food label. Although this can be tedious at first when buying food in a supermarket, I have now become used to it. A quick glance of the label of a certain type of food you are unsure about will show whether it contains yeast. As time progresses, due to a lot of ‘label checking’ you will build up knowledge of foods that contain yeast.
Soy Sauce
Some Frozen Foods

Not only must these foods mentioned above be avoided, the potential growth of yeast in our systems must be avoided.

SUGAR

Obviously most of the foods we eat contain some sugar. Apart from the following foods mentioned another common source where sugar enters our diet is in tea and coffee. Most people drink either tea, coffee or both and often think nothing of having two to three teaspoons of sugar in their teacoffee. Sugar taken in this form especially white sugar can be very refined and processed which is not good for our systems. If you read any magazines or books with articles relating to dieting, de-toxing, skin problems etc. you will commonly find the advice to severely reduce the intake of sugary foods, as it not only greatly beneficial for your skin but your general health as well.

Dairy Products

This means eliminating milk, cheese, yoghurt and other dairy products from the diet. There are a variety of replacements for cows milk, such as Goats Milk which is easier to digest and Soya Milk which also contain first class proteins that are found in cows milk.

Eggs

Eggs are also another well documented source of food intolerance. You may find that if you suffer from a skin condition such as eczema you may unknowingly have an adverse reaction straight after eating an egg. If your condition is aggravated after this it would obviously be a good idea to stop eating eggs.

Red Meat

I have found that omitting these foods from my diet has helped to contribute to the improvement of my skin.

Coffee

Also, note that many other drinks have high caffeine levels such as energy drinks. Tea has caffeine although in smaller amounts then coffee. Some people may think an alternative to coffee would be to have decaffeinated coffee. My friend who has psoriasis used to drink vast amounts of coffee every day, noticed a vast improvement in his condition after he stopped drinking coffee.

Part 2 will contain what other important things which have to be removed from your diet for you to get clear beautiful looking skin.

Common Skin Care Myths

Tags:

With an increasing emphasis on beauty and age defiance in North American society, everyone seems to be seeking ways to make themselves appear younger by taking better care of their skin. While it is true that skin is one of the keys to a healthy, youthful appearance, not all skin care treatments that are proposed, or even that are popular, are effective. Here are some of the top myths when it comes to skin care.

1 Acne. Acne is the bane of everyone from their teenage years and onward. There are so many false rumors out there concerning acne that an article could be written on them alone. To start with, acne does not cease miraculously when you are out of your teens. In some people, acne is a perpetual problem and will continue throughout their lives. Many of the false ideas about acne are extremely detrimental to people who are afflicted with the condition. Acne is not a sign that an individual does not wash their face. In fact, many individuals with acne will be told this by their peers and the result will be extremely counter-productive; they end up washing their faces too much. The dryer skin does not clear out the acne problem, instead it exacerbates it. Acne may be aggravated by certain foods in an individuals diet, but rarely are the suspect foods chocolate, French fries, or pizza the main trigger. Finally, remember that acne can be treated by several types of medicine on the market today-and effectively- so it is all right to go to your doctor and consult her about acne treatments.

2 Tanning. Tanning is often advertised as adding a warm, healthy glow to your skin. The truth is, nothing is worse for your skin than direct exposure to the harmful ultraviolet rays that are necessary to tan, whether you are on a bed or in the sun. Tanning may help to get rid of formed acne, but it will not prevent new pores from clogging. Tanning has little benefits beyond immediate aesthetic appeal, and in the long run it will prove harmful to your skin. It is best to use sun block whenever you are out in the sun.

3 Moisturizers. Many people think that moisturizers will help in making their skin appear more youthful by getting rid of wrinkles. This is not the case. Moisturizers will help to lubricate the skin and lessen dryness, but they will not serve to repair the microscopic damage at the cell level that wrinkles represent.

4 Skin Care ingredients. For many years, top beauticians have placed slices of cucumber over the eyes of their clients in order to reduce skin damage and swelling. Today, you will find many products on the shelves that depict a cucumber or slice of cucumber and claim to include cucumber extracts that will help rejuvenate your skin. The fact is that it is not any particular mineral in the cucumber that is beneficial to the skin, it is the fact that cucumbers are mostly made of water, which leeches into the skin during the process and gives the appearance of re-invigoration.

All of these myths are used today to help sell products via a method known as scare tactics. In fact, if you follow the advice of your doctor most of your skin care needs will be resolved, and they will not require a lot of home grown methods and wives tale rumors.
